Marisa De Jager

Marisa is a registered social worker with statutory operational management and strategic leadership experience. She is passionate about effective social work practice, has a commitment to continuing professional development, investment in practice and building on transformational strength-based and reflective practice models that ensure prevention, diversion and intervention opportunities making a difference to children and young people's lives. She has strong experience working with stakeholders, including service users, carers, families and communities to deliver change and quality improvements across systems.

Marisa designed and now leads the Nib Shared Vision social work and safeguarding transformation programs across the public sector. She regularly undertakes safeguarding reviews and consultancy for the private, public, charity and museum sector.

She leads, motivate and inspire social workers and their partners across organisations ensuring the services provided are effective and responsive.

Over the last 5 years Marisa has led a large scale complex abuse investigation (Operation Lemur Alpha) with a focus on children with complex health needs in residential settings. She was integral to two national reviews with the Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel and reports on a regular basis to the relevant national bodies, including the Department of Education and Health.

Marisa is an ordinary member of Association of Directors of Children Services on the following Policy committees:

  • Health, Care and Additional Needs and Education Committee
  • Family Children and Young People Policy Group
  • Special Educational Needs Steering Group

Marisa also represents the ADCS as a member in the Policy Group - Children who have Parents in Prison and is a social work member to British Transport Police's Strategic Independent Advisory Group (SIAG).

Marisa has a longstanding interest in innovation and finding more effective ways of protecting children and vulnerable adults. She is the main architect of the national and international #voc #childsvoice (Voice of the Child) campaign on social media platforms.

Marisa has presented at several national and international conferences including BAPSCAN in the UK and ISPCAN in Canada and The Hague. She currently has various contracts Nationally relating to the above reflected in the "work experience sector" on linkedin.
